Spent the morning completing more work on Bettrick, I have been adding the offers and how to access them onto the forums, things are looking good. Just need to poke Andi with a sharp stick so that he gets his internet connected up at his new flat and gets on with the poker stuff.
The afternoon was spent watching York City Knights getting hammered by Halifax, 40-20. Still Halifax are a league above the knights so it was to be expected. They also rested a few players as they want to concentrate on the league and bounce back up with a promotion. The season tickets were useful and a great gift from the knights for all coaching work I do at Primary School level.
Speaking of which my team is through to the finals, to be held in may at the Knights ground, half time in a league game so the atmosphere should be good.
Poker profit this month is standing at $163 - still someway to go. I have dropped back to $10+1 and am now multi tabling them instead of the single $22's - When my stack is up to $1000 - I'll hit the $20 + 2's
Welcome to my mind.
The ramblings within this blog serve no purpose whatsoever, and any similarity between what is written here and real life is purely coincidental.

Reporting Back for Duty
Finally t'internet problems have been sorted, unfortunately I insisted on tryingto play poker with a connection that was ..... well......it wasn't really a connection at all, so I have managed to drop quite a bit of cash. Still in profit for the month, but it isn't what it should be.
One other downer is that I have also dislocated my left knee and I am on crutches and wearing a splint, football is a funny old game. I simplycaught my studs in the grass as I turned and my knee popped. I now have 6 weeks off work. I should probably write that book that I have always wanted to write, instead I'll play far too much poker.

Poker, Up the Blues and Other Stuff.
After several days of dodgy internet connections recently and losing money at poker the connection has been quite stable, possibly because I have unplugged the phone. I have decided to move up to the $22 SnGs, I have now played four this month and have won 2 of them, recovering the money that I lost on the $11s and putting me $111 up for the month. Not sure how long I can keep this up, but it's a nice start to the level.
In other news, the Mighty Blues are playing Spuds today at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup, should be a good match and for once I'll be able to watch it as it isn't on Sky, it's on normal TV.
I am also buggering about with the blog getting an mp3 player sorted that plays more than one track, will be good to share (inflict) my taste in music on others.

Bettrick Beta 2
Bettrick has hit beta testing stage 2, and we've all managed to break it in as many ways as we can. Which is all good news as the problems are being addressed as we speak. I'm really looking forward to going live in the next few weeks and get people making money. It's such a simple idea too.
I'll have to start getting back into it as we have loads of sites that I haven't bonus blagged yet, plus with the bounty payment kick back will really make it worthwhile.
We'll be looking for beta testers soon, though I think US punters will struggle to take advantage as we are not supposed to refer them following all the changes etc. to the law.

Creative Writing
One reason for this blog was for me to write on, I don't want it to be part of some ego trip, but simply a place to put my thoughts down where I won't lose them and will perhaps get some constructive feedback. Yet for some reason I am sat here with stage fright.
All previous attempts at writing have been very private affairs, furtively scribbled into a notebook that has been carefully hidden, like an embarrassing elderly relative that urinates in public and likes to touch people in inappropriate places.
It's almost ironic that I spend my time encouraging children to write and not be afraid to put pen to paper yet I am so nervous myself.
Perhaps I should try those exercises that I encourage the kids to do to get myself going.
Word Association Brainstorming
The Beach
waves, sand, salt, seaweed, bucket, spade, castle, dunes, bikini, tan, sun, breeze, cliff, rocks, spray, seagulls, pebbles, pier, arcades, marram grass, kite, fish and chips, deckchairs,
This helps develop ideas for a scene.
The rain lashed the window, its wet fingers drumming hard enough to make the glass rattle in the frame. Sighing heavily Josh slumped an armchair, the television hissed and buzzed with static in the corner. It hadn't worked properly in days but he switched it on every morning with decreasing optimism.
Who's idea was it to holiday in Scarborough anyway? If it had been summer he could have understood, but February wasn't exactly sunbathing season. He could hear his dad whistling in the kitchen as he made breakfast, even the smell of bacon drifting through the 1970's style serving hatch couldn't cheer Josh up. No doubt he would be dragged out of the house into the rain to look at something of historical interest. Everyone else he knew was back at home playing on their PS3's or knocking about playing football or something, anthing but being stuck in a miserable, badly decorated terraced house in the wettest place in England.
Not sure where this is going yet, but I am sure that I'll find out as it goes on.

The Orange Saga Continues
I am currently trying to work out who works for Orange customer service. Yesterday I sent an email to them which included a request for a MAC code so that I could switch ISP. Their response was to send me a link to a help topic about MAC codes. I duely read it, only to discover that in order to get my MAC code I have to phone them or email them with a request for a MAC code!
There was no email link telling me that the email address I need is any different to the one that I am using. Perhaps I should contact them using my telepathic powers, they would after all be as effective as sending an email.
I just hope that this gets sorted soon as I'll never make my target of $500 for the month if I keep getting disconnected mid game, this has cost me $55 so far this month and has stopped me playing till it is sorted.
I have at least got a new phone today, it's not with Orange, which should save me around a £10er a month, and this also gives me a new toy to play with when I should be working for the next few days.
If a room full of monkeys given typewriters and enough time could write the complete works of Shakespeare, what could they do with an internet server and a 3G phone licence?

Clockwork Orange - They're certainly not futuristic
T'nternet problems continue and Orange have been particularly crap. Despite my email saying thatI had changed modems and reinstalled, and checked the cables and the filters, they sent me an email saying that they had found this online help article. I opened it and it suggested that my DUN (Dial Up Network) could be the problem and had I checked it was installed correctly, and had I checked the cables and filters!
IF IT WASN'T INSTALLED CORRECTLY HOW THE HELL COULD I CONTACT YOU?
IT WOULDN'T BLOODY WORK AT ALL!!
Suffice to say I have requested my MAC code and will be moving ISP, I am paying too much anyway and if the problem continues I know that it is BT that are talking complete cobblers as I know the equipment is working my end, it's all brand new now.
This comes at the end of a long day at school. The government are revamping the structure of the National Numeracy and Literacy Strategies. We have been given a copy of the new framework.
No one understands it.
It is far too complicated and requires far too much work to be workable at the moment. This all stems from one key thing. They start with 7 Strands that we have to teach and then they inform us that this will fit into 5 blocks, which will in turn be divided into 3 parts to teach across the 3 terms. Now I don't have a problem with the last part, but someone needs to explain to the experts that wrote it that 7 doesn't go easily into 5.
Expert - let's break that down.
x = the unknown
spurt = drip under pressure.
Expert = Unknown drip under pressure.
The best part is; it has probably cost a million or two to sort and is not very different from the old framework in many aspects (those are the bits we do understand).

Bloomin' T'internet
Why is it nothing ever works when you need it?
After several cups of delicious Yorkshire tea I fnally got myself motivated to work, and t'internet breaks down on me. It's been happening on and off for about a week now. I have changed the modem, I changed the phone cable, still it keeps cutting out for no apparent reason. I ring BT, they test the line and there is no fault on the line. So I try and get in touch with Orange, but obviously have no internet to find out the contact number.
Finally it decides to work again for long enough to log on and send Orange an email, but the day is virtually over and it's too late to get going on the work I needed to do. Serves me right I suppose for not getting off my arse this morning.
At least I won my Battrick cup match and am through to the final 16, not sure I'll win the next one though.
I took my daughter swimming this afternoon, she's turning into quite a fish. I swam a few lengths while she practised her front crawl and diving, she says that she loves swimming more than football!

Sunday Work Avoidance
Having stayed up to watch Andi (the poker degenerate) get his bankroll in order and then decided to play on my son's PS2 till silly o'clock, I overslept.
This means two things:
1) I missed all the drunk Americans on PokerStars, so my bankroll hasn'tgot much bigger.
2) I am now tired and can't be bothered to do the work I am supposed to do.
Instead I have decided to burble away on here while watching my Battrick cup match.
Wayne is having a meeting with the Collective boys today which should see a few bugs being fixed on Bettrick (if you don't know about bettrick yet, you will do soon.) We are nearly ready for live beta testing and things are getting quite exciting. The question is now how do we get the punters in?

Saturday Night Boredom
Saturday night and Poker Stars SNGs appear not to be working. My afternoon of hard work has so far left me $75 in profit, but the evening I had planned while Mrs Impurity is out working has disappeared.
Fortunately I have my new blog to keep me entertained.
After a bit of playing, I have a new blog banner, complete with adapted quote from a film tag-line and angry man.
Time to consider my goals for the month.
1) Earn $500 + playing poker and move up to $22 SNGs.
2) Get planning permission for the extension to the house.
3) Train up my school tag rugby team so that they win their heat and get to the schools tag finals.
And Poker Stars is working for me again, and like the poker addict that I am, I'm off to play some more. Lets hope that the run continues.
I've just realised I'm wearing odd socks, I wonder how many other people are wearing odd socks today? I can almost guarrantee they are virtually all blokes. Women just wouldn't do it, unless it was a deliberate statement or something. While men are just fecking lazy when it comes to a Saturday and getting dressed.
Random thoughts again.

Mmmmmmmmmmm Yorkshire Tea
There is something about Yorkshire Tea that just can't be beaten, either that or its the chocolate cake that I've just eaten. I feel a little more human now so will attempt to continue.
I intend to use this blog for a number of things, the most important of these is talking complete bollocks when I feel like it, others include keeping myself up to date with my poker playing and also my ideas for stories that I will never write - hence the title.
Does the size of the mug of tea affect the satisfaction you get from drinking it?
Is bigger better?
Or is there a point where there is just too much damn tea to drink?
I have now been summoned to go shopping, fortunately it is to the garden centre so there won't be too much hanging around in shops, the down side is there will be no totty to ogle.

About Bloomin' Time
I've been meaning to do this for sometime.
At last the perfect place to vent my spleen, comment on the sublime and the ridiculous and let my mind roam. Unfortunately, having spent last night passed out on the sofa, I was attempting to watch Once Upon a Time in America, I am far too knackered to do anything really constructive.
Why is it that all the films you want to see start at stupid o'clock in the morning?
You then attempt to watch them, only to fall asleep at some crucial point and so miss the ending and never get around to watching it again as you have seen the first hour.
I should probably start with who I am, but since I will probably be the only person who ever reads this I can't be bothered. If someone else is reading this, you can read keep reading and make your own mind up at some point in the future.
I'll post more later once I've had a decent cup of tea and a large piece of cake.
